How to Maintain Clear Skin

For one reason or another, keeping clear skin in college seems to be a struggle for a lot of college girls once they get to college. The stress levels go up, schedules get tight, and you probably aren’t taking good care of your skin as you normally would. Some things that you could do to take better care of your skin are as follows:

Remove Your Makeup

If you take one thing from this article, please let it be this one. Trust me, I understand the pain and inconvenience of taking off your makeup especially after a long day or a long night out. It’s the worst. However, it is SO important in order to maintain clear and healthy skin. Leaving makeup on will clog your pores and cause constant breakouts and blackheads. Don’t let it get to this point. Try Neutrogena makeup removal wipes, they do they job perfectly!

Don’t Share Makeup

It’s in our nature to share clothes, shoes, and other fun stuff with our roommates and friends. However, sharing your makeup is a major NO if you want to keep clear and healthy skin. By sharing each other’s makeup, your also sharing whatever other bacteria or unsanitary elements that may have been on your friend’s makeup brushes or sponges. Quite simply, don’t share your makeup.

Drink Lots of Water

I’m not going to pretend like you college gals aren’t drinking alcoholic beverages. Surprisingly enough, alcohol and chasers DO cause breakouts. Your body becomes dehydrated and so does your skin. You should be drinking as much water as possible on a daily basis to keep your skin hydrated.

Limit Oily and Greasy Foods

This could be a more difficult task than the others considering the convenience for quick greasy food during your weekly schedule. Eating these types of foods is okay once and a while, but eating greasy food regularly will cause breakouts. Having variety in your diet is healthy for many aspects of your health including the clarity of your skin.

Use a Compatible Face Wash For Your Skin

Washing your face regularly is also important in maintaining clear skin. You shouldn’t just be washing your face with water, however. You may want to experiment with a few different washes to see which one best suits your skin. If you’re a person like me that is sensitive to fragrances, you may want to try face washes without it. I personally use Clinque and I find that it really keeps my skin clear and healthy. Another popular brand is Neutrogena. Once you find your match, wash once or twice a day with HOT water to remove any dirt or bacteria that may be lurking.
